Matchams Riverbank Stabilisation

For Bournemouth Water

The raw water intake at Matchams is located on a fast flowing bend on the River Avon. The building was constructed C.1955 and provides a reliable source of raw water to the WTW in Bournemouth. Water depths are typically 3-5m with a high river flow rate, circa 3 knots, even when not in spate. Delivery requirements were to stabilise the existing riverbank and arresting the damaging scour whilst providing the least amount of environmental impact.

Scour Protection, Totnes

For Sisk Rail

Working on behalf of Sisk Rail, TMS were contracted to provide scour protection works
around the piers of a railway bridge on the River Dart in Totnes, Devon. The works were to
install rock roll bags to the north riverbank and to the footpath on the south side. TMS
completed masonry repairs to the masonry bridge and then rock armour was placed to the
north side of the river as a toe for the rock rolls as extra protection.

BAE Deep Water Berth, Glasgow

For Farrans Construction

2021 - 2022

TMS were appointed by Farrans Construction to undertake the Deep
Water Berth Deepening Works for BAE Systems in Glasgow, which took
a total of 14 months to complete.
The scope of the project included:
• Initial Backhoe Dredge of 27,000m3
• Precast concrete breakout and removal
• Rock breakout to revised berthing pit depths to accommodate
precast concrete to -11m CD
• Bed levelling
• Precast concrete placement
• Underwater In-situ Concrete
• Re-siltation Completion Dredge

Cliff Stabilisation

For Fort Bovisand Developments

December 2020 - January 2021

Employed by Fort Bovisand Developments Ltd, TMS worked closely with the scheme designer, Red Rock Geoscience, to successfully complete the vital stabilisation works to the cliff face approaching Fort Bovisand, a former casemated gun battery constructed in the 1860s for the protection of Plymouth Sound.

Isle of Man Sea Terminal

Teignmouth Maritime Services were contracted by BAM Nuttall to carry out various scopes of work at the Sea Terminal in Douglas Harbour, Isle of Man. These consisted of scour protection to the two Ro Ro ferry berths, linkspan hoist tower piles life extension (consisting of repair sleeve and denso sea shield), installing a new fender pile and repairs to previously damaged piles; and sea shield work to the three walkway dolphins that are situated within Douglas Harbour.
